If you’ve been to one of our seminars on improving ovarian function, we frequenty recommend various vegetables and juices and we often incorporate carrots. There are many reasons for this, but in this study they showed that a vitamin A deficiency can prevent your eggs from maturing properly. Now if you plan on eating tons of carrots, keep in mind that carrots don’t directly supply much vitamin A, you have to be able to convert the b-carotene to vitamin A. If you directly take a vitamin A supplement, it’s easy to get poisoned in which case you end up damaging your reproduction among other things. So this is where we not only stress diet, but also improving absorption and metabolism and this is one of the places where acupuncture can be extremely useful.

Hi Brandon,
I have taken your Enhancing Ovarian Reserve course from ProD and specialize in infertility as well. I have a follow up today with a patient who has just failed her 4th IVF attempt at the young age of 29, and wanted to ask specifically if you had any recommendations for improving “sticky” eggs. Her RE commented that in every cycle, the zona appeared thickened and “sticky” but he cannot attribute this to anything.
This cycle seemed like it would have a better outcome with combo of herbal/acup/nutritional tx and this is the only cycle where she had embryos left over of good enough quality to freeze (there are 2).
Any advice would be welcome, as this patient’s RE has given up on her and she now wants to try naturally for a while.
Husband has borderline ct/morph isssues but is a med resident and “doesn’t have time” for treatment.
Thanks!!!
