Hopefully this analysis of the literature will allay fears about using antioxidants in conjunction with Chemotherapy or Radiation treatment for cancer.

Noted oncologist Charles B Simone MD and his colleagues searched Medline and Cancerlit and came up with 280 peer-reviewed studies on the concurrent use of dietary supplements including antioxidants with chemotherapy and radiation treatment. The studies reviewed included 50 human studies involving a total of 8,251 patients. They found that the antioxidants and other nutritional supplements did not interfere with treatment, and that they enhanced the effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. In 47 of the human studies, nutritional supplements were found to be protective to normal cells and tissue, and also reduced many of the serious side effects of the conventional treatments. In 15 of the human studies, 3,738 patients treated with supplementation had increased survival. This is rare for any cancer outcome
